Woman's body found in Long Beach home

Detectives in Long Beach were investigating Wednesday the death of a woman whose body was found inside a home after an anonymous caller asked police to check on her.

“We have not yet identified who this individual is or determined the cause of death,” Long Beach police spokeswoman Nancy Pratt said Wednesday.

Pratt said police went to the home in the 100 block of Ellis Street about 6 p.m. Tuesday after receiving the anonymous call.

After obtaining a search warrant to enter the home, they found the body and “it was clear that this was a homicide investigation,” Pratt said but did not elaborate.

No one else was in the home, she said.

The Los Angeles County coroner’s office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death, she said.
