L.A. Now Live: Chat about Kelly Thomas case

May 10, 2012 |  6:00 am

Times staff writer Richard Winton will join City Editor Shelby Grad for a discussion about the latest developments in the Kelly Thomas case. On Wednesday, an Orange County judge ordered two Fullerton police officers to stand trial in the homeless man's beating death.

The judge's decision came after a three-day preliminary hearing.

The chat is scheduled to take place live at 9 a.m. Thursday. Winton, who has covered the case since Thomas' death last July, will be available to answer questions.

Officer Manuel Ramos is charged with second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter in the case. Cpl. Jay Cicinelli, 40, is to be tried on charges of involuntary manslaughter and excessive use of force.

Dist. Atty. Tony Rackauckas also said he had not ruled out filing charges against additional officers, something the Thomas family and supporters have called for.
