Former prison guard pleads guilty to sexually assaulting inmate

A former federal prison guard pleaded guilty Tuesday to sexually assaulting a female inmate, a charge that could carry a sentence of 10 years in prison.

Former guard Brandon McKinney, 34, pleaded guilty in San Diego federal court to assaulting an inmate at the downtown prison on July 20, 2010. He is set to be sentenced Aug. 10.
