Fire east of Julian may force evacuation of homes

A brush fire east of Julian in northern San Diego County has burned 150 acres and is growing rapidly, according to Cal-Fire.

The fire broke out about 2:30 p.m. in the Cigarette Canyon area. Evacuation is being planned for approximately 100 homes in Shelter Valley, officials said.

Additional firefighting resources have been summoned.
