Homicide investigators were on the scene Tuesday at a South Los Angeles apartment where two decomposing bodies were found.

Police were called to the 900 block of West 81st Street just before 4 p.m. Monday to check out a smell coming from a rear apartment, said Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department.

After making their way inside, officers found two decomposing bodies, she said.

Details about the conditions of the bodies were not available, but Eisenman said one was confirmed to be a woman.

Eisenman said detectives hoped to have more information about the victims Tuesday.

"We've been working it all night," she said.
