Bear roaming Hesperia neighborhood is tranquilized

A large bear roaming a residential neighborhood in Hesperia on Wednesday was tranquilized and returned to the forest.

No one was injured in the incident, which began Wednesday morning when residents saw the bear wandering the streets, officials said.

The animal was taken to the Fawnskin area near Big Bear and was doing fine Wednesday evening, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

The bear was tranquilized by agents with the California Department of Fish and Game. No other details were immediately available.
