Soldier from Los Angeles is killed in Afghanistan

Tofiga TautoloA U.S. Army soldier from Los Angeles has been killed in combat in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense announced Tuesday.

Spc. Tofiga Tautolo, 23, from the Wilmington area of Los Angeles, died Sunday in Nangarhar province near Pakistan of wounds sustained when his vehicle was attacked with an improvised explosive device.

Tautolo was on his fourth combat deployment. As a Marine, he had served two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. He joined the Army in May 2011.

Tautolo was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, from Fort Carson, Colo.
