About 1,000 customers without power in Hollywood, DWP says

May 22, 2012 |  9:45 pm

About 1,000 customers were without power in this area of Hollywood.
About 1,000 people in the Hollywood area were without electricity Tuesday night.

The outage affected mostly residential areas and was reported shortly after 8:30 p.m., the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power said.

"Our crews are there investigating," said agency spokeswoman Terry Schneider.

She said a cause of the outage had not been determined. It was unclear when the power would be restored.

The Los Angeles Police Department said a power poll had toppled in the 8400 block of Hillside Avenue in the Hollywood Hills and that firefighters had requested officers to help keep people away from the scene.
