Inmate recaptured after accidental release from L.A. county jail

Larry HowardAn inmate accidentally released from a Los Angeles County jail was re-apprehended Thursday night at his wife's home in Los Angeles.

Larry Darnell Howard, 21, had been housed in the county jail since March 26 to attend court proceedings. But Howard, who was serving a two-year prison burglary sentence, was mistakenly released on Tuesday by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department even though he was not scheduled to be paroled until November, state corrections officials said.

A corrections department apprehension team took Howard back into custody after surveillance at a home in Los Angeles determined his whereabouts, said Henry Cervantez, a spokesman for the state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
