Search continues for man who jumped from Redondo Beach Pier

Authorities searched Sunday for a 22-year-old man who jumped into the ocean from the Redondo Beach Pier on Saturday.

About 11 p.m., David Thompson, 22,  of Redondo Beach jumped from the pier with a woman, who made it to shore, the Redondo Beach Police Department said.

The woman, whose name was not released, initially told officers that she had jumped off the pier alone and did not know if someone had followed her in, said Redondo Beach Police Sgt. Fabian Saucedo.

The woman was taken to a hospital, where she was listed in stable condition. At the hospital, however, she told officers that Thompson jumped in with her.

Search crews on Sunday scoured the water for Thompson, deploying helicopters, boats and scuba divers to search the area.
