Portion of I-5 to close five nights over next two weeks

Caltrans crews will close the 5 Freeway in both directions between Valley View Avenue and Carmenita Road in south Los Angeles County for five nights over the next two weeks as part of a $110-million widening project on the busy freeway.

On Wednesday, the freeway will close from 11:59 p.m. until  4 a.m. Thursday, Caltrans said.

The closures will then continue nightly from April 16 through April 19, between 11:59 p.m. and 4 a.m.

Crews will be restriping lanes and placing concrete medians along the freeway, Caltrans said.

For information on this project and other Interstate 5 improvement projects between the Los Angeles/Orange County line to the 605 Freeway, call the toll-free I-5 Hotline at (855) 454-6335 or visit I-5info.com.
