Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson told the Associated Press that officers arrived at the north Modesto home to deliver the notice around 11 a.m. Thursday. He said it was not immediately clear how the civilian, who was not identified, died.

A call to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department was not immediately returned.
