Marine from Camp Pendleton killed in Afghanistan

6a00d8341c630a53ef016303ced6e9970dA Marine from Camp Pendleton has been killed in combat in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense announced late Friday.

Cpl. Alex Martinez, 21, of Elgin, Ill., was killed Thursday in Helmand province. He was assigned to the 1st Combat Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.
