Marine from Camp Pendleton killed in Afghanistan

A Marine from Camp Pendleton has been killed in combat in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense announced Monday.

Master Sgt. Scott Pruitt, 38, of Gautier, Miss., was killed Saturday in Helmand province. He was a comptroller chief with 1st Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group 1, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force.

Pruitt enlisted in 1993. His commendations include three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals and four Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbons.
