Man wounded in Westlake shooting

A man was shot and wounded in the Westlake area of Los Angeles on Thursday night, police said.

The shooting was reported at the corner of 8th Street and Union Avenue, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Karen Rayner.

The man, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital and was expected to recover from the gunshot wound.

There were reports that the shooting had occurred inside a donut shop, but Rayner said it was unclear whether the shooting occurred inside or whether someone from the donut shop called police.

A motive for the shooting was not known, she said.
