Man wearing wig and carrying skateboard tries to rob San Diego bank

Bank robber in wig

The FBI in San Diego is looking for a man wearing a wig and toting a skateboard who tried unsuccessfully to rob a La Jolla bank.

Authorities released video images of the man, who walked into a Wells Fargo bank on Girard Avenue about 1:38 p.m. Saturday and handed a note to a teller, according to the FBI.

The teller looked at the note and then at the man. The would-be robber may have panicked at that point, because he grabbed back the note and walked out of the bank, authorities said.

No money was taken and no one was injured in the robbery attempt.

The FBI described the man as white, in his mid-30s or early 40s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 175 pounds. He was wearing a long blond wig under a blue baseball cap with the San Diego Padres logo. He was carrying a long-board style skateboard.
