Los Angeles County authorities were investigating the death Wednesday of Clark Gable Jr.'s girlfriend in Malibu, coroner's officials said.

The 41-year-old woman, whose name was not immediately released, was found unresponsive at a residence in the 30600 block of Morning View Drive shortly before noon, said Craig Harvey, chief of operations for the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

Harvey said there were no signs of foul play and that the death may be natural or accidental due to possible use of prescription drugs. The coroner's office and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department will examine the circumstances of the death.

Although an autopsy will be completed within days, the cause of death is likely to be deferred pending toxicology tests, which typically take six to eight weeks.
