Fresno teacher facing charges of having sex with underage student

A 29-year-old social studies teacher in Fresno is facing six felony charges of allegedly having sex with an underage student, according to a complaint filed Monday by the Fresno County district attorney’s office.

Hoover High School teacher Megan Elizabeth Denman was charged with three counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and three counts of oral copulation for incidents that occurred between July 1, 2010, and Dec.  31, 2011.

In April, Denman was arrested and placed on paid administrative leave due to the allegations, said Susan Bedi, a spokeswoman with the Fresno Unified School District.

Bedi said no other school sites are under investigation, and detectives have not found evidence of other victims.

Denman is free on $55,000 bail, according to the Fresno Bee.

She is scheduled to appear in Fresno County Superior Court  on Tuesday morning, according to the district attorney’s office.
