Earthquake: 3.4 quake strikes near Indio
A shallow, magnitude 3.4 earthquake was reported Tuesday morning 11 miles from Indio, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 8:15 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 1.2 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 13 miles from Thousand Palms, 13 miles from Coachella, 20 miles from Twentynine Palms and 94 miles from San Diego.
In the past 10 days, there have been six earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
