Detectives investigate stabbing death in Hawthorne

Sheriff’s homicide detectives are investigating the stabbing death of a man in Hawthorne early Sunday morning.

The slaying “appears to be gang-related,” said Sheriff’s Sgt. Pauline Panis.

It occurred about 2:45 a.m. Sunday in the 3300 block of West Rosecrans Avenue.

The man, whose name and age were not immediately released, was walking on the street and became involved in an argument with another man, Panis said. During the argument, a third man stabbed the victim, who was transported by friends to a local hospital and pronounced dead.

There was no further information on the motive in the attack, she said.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call detectives at 323-809-5500.
