Body of man missing since 2010 pulled from reservoir

Merced County coroner's officials confirmed Wednesday that a body pulled from a Los Banos reservoir is that of Hector Valencia, a 24-year-old college student who disappeared nearly two years ago.

Valencia disappeared May 6, 2010, triggering a fruitless search from the Central Valley to the Bay Area, according to the Merced Sun-Star.

Last month, a red Toyota 4runner was pulled from a Los Banos reservoir and, after testing, Valencia's identity was confirmed.

Police did not suspect foul play. The position of the truck suggested that the vehicle had been driven into the reservoir, authorities said.
