Body found in Pacoima garage fire

An investigation was underway Wednesday after the body of an adult woman was found following a garage fire in Pacoima.

The fire broke out about 9 a.m. in the detached garage of a single-family home in the 12900 block of Sunburst Street. L.A. City Fire Department workers were able to put the fire out in about 12 minutes.

After the blaze was extinguished, firefighters found the body.

The L.A. County coroner's office will determine the cause of death. An adult male, possibly in his 30s, suffered burns and smoke inhalation in the fire, according to authorities.

He was being assessed at the scene to see whether he needed to be taken to the hospital. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
