Bobby Brown to appear in court in connection with DUI charges
Singer Bobby Brown is scheduled to appear in a Van Nuys court Monday morning for his arraignment on three misdemeanor charges related to an arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Brown, 43, formerly married to the late pop diva Whitney Houston, was pulled over March 26 in Reseda for talking on his cellphone but later was arrested after taking a field sobriety test, prosecutors said. He faces charges of driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol level above .08% and driving with a suspended license, according to prosecutors.
Brown, who was married to Houston for 14 years before the couple divorced in 2007, reportedly has had numerous run-ins with the law, reportedly including a 1996 drunk driving incident in Florida. Much of the couple’s marital turmoil and legal woes played out in the public, including in a 2005 reality show called “Being Bobby Brown.”
He faces a maximum of a year in county jail if convicted.
