Sections of 134 Freeway to be closed for repairs

Caltrans will close sections of the 134 Freeway as crews repair areas that were damaged during a tanker fire earlier this month
Caltrans will close sections of the 134 Freeway over the next three days as crews repair areas that were damaged during a tanker fire earlier this month.

The closures are scheduled to start tonight, shutting down westbound lanes from Riverside Drive to Pacific Avenue from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

On Saturday, the lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. On Sunday, lanes will be closed from midnight to 8 a.m.

Westbound drivers will be rerouted, officials said.

The fire erupted on April 7 when the tanker's rear trailer was struck from behind by Hakop Maghakyan, 25, of Glendale, who was driving at a high rate of speed, according to CHP officials. Maghakyan was cited for misdemeanor DUI and released.

During the fire, more than 900 feet of the roadway, including guard rails, vegetation, bridge railing and pavement, were damaged.
