1-year-old boy struck, killed by truck in City Terrace

A 1-year-old boy was killed Friday afternoon when he ran into the path of a pickup truck in City Terrace, authorities said.

A driver was trying to move his 2009 Chevrolet Silverado from behind a sport utility vehicle that belonged to the boy’s mother and was parked in a driveway in the 100 block of North Indiana Street, according to the California Highway Patrol. The child was struck by the pickup's left front tire and suffered severe head trauma.

L.A. County Fire Department paramedics took the child to County-USC Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
