Woman steals wallets from O.C. office workers, police say

Irvine area police say they are looking for a thief who has struck several times in Orange County office buildings.

Detectives said the woman -- described as blond, between 5-foot-3 and 5-foot-5 and weighing 140 to 150 pounds -- dresses like a business professional, then walks into office buildings.

Once in the offices, she seeks out other women's purses and wallets and steals credit cards and cash, KTLA-TV reported.  She then goes to local stores -- among them, the Apple Store, Macy's and Target -- and buys expensive gift cards, electronics, and clothing, officials said.

Police said she has charged as much as $2,000 to the stolen credit cards. A variety of surveillance images have been collected by police, who said the woman has been spotted driving a silver Chevy Suburban.

Besides her business attire, the woman has been spotted carrying a large handbag, according to the Irvine Police Department.
