Woman injured in hit-and-run skid row crash

Skid Row

A woman sleeping in a tent on Los Angeles' skid row was injured in a hit-and-run crash early Sunday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

A car attempted to hit another pedestrian at 5th Street and Towne Avenue about 2:30 a.m. but instead ran into Christina Silver in her tent, LAPD Officer Karen Rayner said. Silver was hospitalized with serious injuries but is in stable condition, the LAPD said.

"As if you are not having bad enough luck, then you get run over sleeping in your tent," Rayner said.

The driver fled the scene in the car, a gray Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix, Rayner said. The car is believed to have a shattered side window.
