3 boys arrested in assault that left Long Beach student injured

Three teenage boys were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a Long Beach high school student was severely injured in a brawl, police said Thursday afternoon.

A 15-year-old Lynwood girl also was arrested on suspicion of destroying or concealing evidence connected to the boy's beating Wednesday afternoon near Wilson High, the Long Beach Police Department said.

The three boys arrested were 16 and 15 years old and attend Wilson High, the department said in a statement. They are all Long Beach residents.

The 15-year-old boy who was beaten had been confronted by other students who got in a verbal confrontation with the victim, police said.

The attackers allegedly beat him and ran from the scene.

Detectives have not established a motive for the attack and suspect that others may have been involved, the department said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Amy Garrett at (562) 570-1425.
