Norwalk teen slain in possible gang-related shooting identified

Coroner’s officials Monday identified the 16-year-old who was shot multiple times in Norwalk last week in a possible gang-related incident.

Mark Anthony Valle of Norwalk was near the rear of a business on the 11900 block of Firestone Boulevard late Wednesday when he was approached by two male suspects and shot.

The teen collapsed and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead Thursday morning, said Lt. Cheryl MacWillie of the L.A. County Sheriff's Department.

Sgt. Pauline Panis said Monday that authorities were still looking for the suspects, who fled the scene on foot.

The L.A. Times Homicide Report lists 24 homicides within a two-mile radius of the business since Jan. 1, 2007.

Anyone with information about the shooting may contact the L.A. County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
