Man accused of drugging, sexually assaulting baby-sitter
A Norwalk man has been arrested on suspicion of drugging a baby-sitter he hired for his children and sexually assaulting her in his home, authorities said Thursday evening.
Kevin E. Cady, 53, hired the 22-year-old woman through an online baby-sitting service. Cady is accused of offering the baby-sitter a drink he had prepared Jan. 11 at his Norwalk home after returning early from work, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.
"The victim immediately began to feel sleepy. She awoke sometime later to find the suspect sexually assaulting her," the department said in a statement.
The woman fled and called the Sheriff's Department. Cady was detained but released pending a toxicology report.
Cady was arrested last week and released from jail Thursday afternoon, according to Sheriff's Department online booking records. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing April 30.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and asked anyone with information to call the department's Norwalk station at (562) 863-8711
