Janitor found slain at Mission Hills medical building identified

The body of a man found in a basement storage area of a Mission Hills medical facility was identified late Friday as that of 41-year-old Florentino Reyes-Lucas, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Sara Faden said.

Police found the victim when they were called to the Facey Medical Group building in the 11200 block of Sepulveda Boulevard at 6:30 a.m.

Reyes-Lucas, who was stabbed to death, was a contract employee working as a janitor in the building, police said.

Police identified the suspect they believed involved as 43-year-old Jesus Bautista Maldonado of Los Angeles. The LAPD said in a statement, however, that homicide detectives believed Maldonado had fled the country.

Maldonado is described as 5 foot 6 and weighing about 200 pounds.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call LAPD homicide detectives Efren Gutierrez, a Spanish speaker, at (818) 838-9948, or Gene Parshall at (818) 838-9954.
