Muppets to get star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Muppets

Miss Piggy, Kermit and the rest of the Muppets crew will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday, according to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

The star will be on Hollywood Boulevard just outside the El Capitan Theatre.

The ceremony, which begins at 11:30 a.m., will include speeches by Walt Disney Studios Chairman Rich Ross and the Jim Henson Company CEO Lisa Henson. The event comes on the same day as the release of the DVD and Blu-ray of the latest Muppets movie.

Kermit made his first television appearance in 1955 and "The Muppet Show" first aired in 1976. "The Muppet Movie" hit theaters in 1979 and was followed by several other successful movies.
