Motorcyclist is killed in Canoga Park accident

A motorcyclist was killed Saturday in a traffic accident in the west San Fernando Valley, authorities said.

The accident remained under investigation late Saturday afternoon with Los Angeles police and Los Angeles County coroner's personnel on the scene at the southwest corner of Nordhoff Street and De Soto Avenue in Canoga Park.

The identity of the adult male cyclist, who was wearing a helmet, has not been released. The crash was reported to the Los Angeles Fire Department at 12:56 p.m.

“He was sadly beyond our help and was declared deceased at the scene,” said Brian Humphrey, a Fire Department spokesman. “Among the things he collided with was a utility pole. He had traumatic injuries to multiple parts of his body.”

Investigators were trying to determine whether another vehicle was involved.

“It’s not clear if the motorcycle was struck by another vehicle first,” Humphrey said.
