Mother who allegedly drowned daughters in court today
The Los Angeles woman accused of drowning her two young daughters was scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
Lorna Valle, 32, is charged with murdering 5-year-old Marian and 1-year-old Lindsay last month in the family's home in South Los Angeles. Prosecutors have not determined whether to seek the death penalty.
Her husband, Jose Taque, went to a market on the morning of Feb. 15 and when he returned home, he found the sisters naked, unresponsive and wet on the floor, according to prosecutors. The girls allegedly were drowned in an infant tub, authorities said.
Valle, who is being held in jail, is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
Taque and other relatives have said Valle had mental health problems and that she didn't get the help she needed.
