Mother allegedly stabs daughter's boyfriend as couple fights

March 11, 2012 |  9:04 pm

A West Covina woman was being held Sunday on $1-million bail after allegedly stabbing her daughter’s boyfriend in the back as the couple’s argument turned physical, police said.

Christine Marie Rodriguez, 40, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the knifing, which occurred about 6:10 p.m. Saturday at an apartment she shares with her daughter, Melanie, in the 2800 block of East Valley Boulevard, West Covina Police Lt. Jerry Pearman said.

Pearman identified the boyfriend as Juan Perez, 24. The couple’s argument spilled into a back bedroom, where, Pearman said, Rodriguez saw Perez pinning her daughter to the floor.

“Mom stabbed him with a kitchen knife, in the back,” Pearman said.

Perez was in stable condition Sunday at a hospital and, pending further investigation, could face domestic violence charges, Pearman said.
