Actor Michael Madsen won't face child cruelty charge

Michael Madsen booking mugActor Michael Madsen won't face charges after his recent arrest following a physical altercation with his teenage son, because there is insufficient evidence of a crime, prosecutors said.

Madsen, 54, who starred in "Reservoir Dogs" and "Species," was arrested last week at his Malibu home after a row with his son turned physical.

But Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the district attorney's office, said prosecutors reviewed L.A. County sheriff's reports and determined there was insufficient evidence of misdemeanor cruelty to a child.

The family dispute occurred when Madsen allegedly discovered his son smoking marijuana.

The actor was taken into custody after the deputies believed he was under the influence of alcohol.
