Man dies after jumping out of car on 10 Freeway

A 28-year-old Ontario man died after jumping out of a car Saturday afternoon on the eastbound 10 Freeway near Baldwin Park, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The man, identified as Javier Gonzalez, was riding in the backseat of a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by his aunt when he opened the door and jumped onto the freeway. He was taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where he died. The car was traveling at about 65 miles per hour.

The possible use of drugs and alcohol in the incident is being investigated, the CHP said.

Witnesses are encouraged to call the CHP office in Baldwin Park at (626) 338-1164.
