Man accused of drugging, raping baby-sitter; investigation ongoing

March 9, 2012 |  7:05 am

Authorities are seeking more possible victims of a 53-year-old Norwalk man who has been arrested on suspicion of drugging a baby-sitter he hired for his children and sexually assaulting her in his home.

Los Angeles County sheriff's officials said Kevin E. Cady hired the 22-year-old woman through an online baby-sitting service. Cady is accused of offering the baby-sitter a drink he had prepared Jan. 11 at his Norwalk home after returning early from work, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

The department said the woman began to feel sleepy and woke up to find the suspect sexually assaulting her.

The woman fled and called the Sheriff's Department. Cady was detained but released pending a toxicology report.

The toxicology report allegedly showed that the woman had the presence of a drug in her system that causes drowsiness and memory loss, according to the Sheriff's Department. The drug is used for surgical procedures.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and asked anyone with information to call the department's Norwalk station at (562) 863-8711.
