Crime alerts for Sylmar, Silver Lake, 11 other L.A. neighborhoods

Crime reports are up significantly for the latest week in 13 L.A. neighborhoods, according to an analysis of LAPD data by the Los Angeles Times’ Crime L.A. database.

Four neighborhoods reported a significant increase in violent crime. Sylmar (A) was the most unusual, recording 11 reports compared with a weekly average of 3.4 over the last three months.

Silver Lake (E) topped the list of nine neighborhoods with property crime alerts. It recorded 25 property crimes compared with its weekly average of 13.3 over the last three months.

Alerts are based on an analysis of crime reports for March 1–March 7, the most recent seven days for which data are available.
