Woman found dead in Huntington Park vitamin store was an employee

A woman found dead inside a Huntington Park vitamin store was on the job when she was killed last week, authorities said.

The body of the victim, identified as Veronica Hurtado De Reyes, 39, of Los Angeles, will be examined Monday, according to Los Angeles County Coroner spokeswoman Lt. Cheryl MacWillie. Hurtado was pronounced dead at the scene around 6:13 p.m. Thursday.

Huntington Park police said they believed the death to be related to a daytime robbery of the Global Nature store in the 2700 block of East Florence Avenue. MacWillie said no details on the cause of death will be available until after the examination.

The L.A. Times Homicide Report lists 92 homicides within a two-mile radius of the shop since Jan. 1, 2007.
