Manhunt still on for robber who shot Chino police officer [video]

Law enforcement authorities Thursday afternoon were still looking for a bank robber who wounded a Chino police officer with an assault rifle before fleeing.

Authorities released surveillance video footage showing the robber storming into the bank in a ski mask and armed with the high-powered weapon. He is seen leaving with a bag of cash.

The wounded Chino Police Department officer was struck at least once after responding to reports of shots fired Wednesday morning at California Bank & Trust in the 5400 block of  Riverside Drive, authorities said. He drove himself to a hospital and was in stable condition Thursday, authorities said.

Police collected bags of cash dropped by the gunman in the bank parking lot as he fled.

The robber is described as a white male, 35 to 40 years old, 6 feet 2 and about 200 pounds, with blue eyes. He was last seen wearing light-colored jeans, a dark navy shirt and what appeared to be a bulletproof vest. He is believed to be driving a charcoal gray 2009 to 2011 Nissan Maxima with tinted windows and chrome rims.

Local law enforcement and the FBI are involved in the search for the robber. Anyone with information is asked to call the Chino Police Department at (909) 628-1234.
