A Garden Grove man was convicted Wednesday of forcing women to perform sex acts on him in his car after threatening to kill the women with a weapon.

Rulin Hernandez Loaeza, 24, was also convicted of assaulting a third woman and faces 15 years to life in state prison for the two felonies and misdemeanor.

Loaeza committed both felonies within days of each other in November 2009, according a statement from from the Orange County district attorney's office.

In one incident, he offered a 19-year-old woman a ride home after meeting her outside a store in Garden Grove. He drove her to a secluded area, drew a weapon and threatened to kill her if she did not perform oral copulation, prosecutors said.

The woman was later allowed to flee and contacted authorities.

Fifteen days later, Loaeza picked up another woman in neighboring Stanton and made the same threat but was spotted in the act by a sheriff’s deputy that was driving by. He was arrested at the scene.

The incidents occurred almost two years after an alleged incident in which Loaeza assaulted a woman at her home just before midnight. Authorities say Loaeza followed her to the rear of her home after she returned from work and grabbed her hair while she was opening the door, prosecutors said. The woman screamed and Loaeza fled.

He is due in court for sentencing May 4.
