Earthquake: 3.8 quake strikes near Hawthorne, Nev.

A shallow magnitude 3.8 earthquake was reported Monday evening eight miles from Hawthorne, Nev., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 7:17 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 7.5 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 12 miles from Qualeys Camp, Nev., 18 miles from Wichman, Nev. and 150 miles from Sacramento.

In the past 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
