Earthquake: 3.3 quake strikes near Julian

A shallow magnitude 3.3 earthquake was reported Wednesday morning eight miles from Julian, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 3:09 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 3.1 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 13 miles from Pine Valley, 17 miles from Borrego Springs, 36 miles from Escondido and 42 miles from San Diego.

In the last 10 days, there have been seven earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
