Police search for suspect in sexual assault of girl, 7

Covina police are looking for a man who reportedly sexually assaulted a 7-year-old girl in front of Sketch of Covina sexual assault suspect
her home over the weekend.

The incident took place about 6:45 p.m. Saturday, when the girl was in the driveway of her family’s house, police said.

The man walked up to the girl, covered her mouth with his hand and carried her to the side of the house. He then assaulted her until she bit his hand and was able to break free. She ran to the front of the house, chased by the suspect, police said.

An adult neighbor saw the chase and screamed at the suspect to leave the child alone. The suspect then ran from the girl’s house and was seen getting into a burgundy Nissan Altima, 2005 or newer, with paper license plates reading “Wondries” in black and neon green lettering.

The girl was taken to a hospital, where she was treated and released.

Police have circulated a drawing of the suspect. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Det. Tom Tardif with the Covina Police Department at (626) 384-5623.
