Cool weather forecast all week with rain this weekend

March 12, 2012 |  9:57 am

Cloudy skies
It will be at least a week until Los Angeles-area residents can enjoy clear skies and sunshine again, according to forecasts by the National Weather Service.

Temperatures will remain cool through the week with rain arriving over the weekend, weather specialist Stuart Seto said Monday.

Residents should expect temperatures in the 60s all week until the storm arrives late Friday night, bringing about a half-inch of rain and temperatures dropping into the 50s by Sunday, Seto said.

"There's a series of low-pressure systems moving through," Seto said. "The chance of rain really jumps up Friday night to  50% to 60%. It’s going to be early next week, late Monday, before the last storm moves out."

Seto said light breezes with gusts up to 20 mph Tuesday and Wednesday will also lead up the storm.

He said temperatures would be "fairly consistent" across Los Angeles County on Monday with highs of 64 downtown and 63 along the coast.
