March 17, 2012 |  6:44 pm

A woman and her two dogs were rescued Saturday from a sailboat that was taking on water and in danger of running aground off San Diego, the Coast Guard said.

The Coast Guard sent a 41-foot boat after the woman made a distress call, saying she had lost control of her boat amid high winds and rough seas.

The Coast Guard craft took the woman and dogs aboard and towed the sailboat to Shelter Island.
