Whitney Houston's body to fly by private jet to N.J. for funeral
Whitney Houston's body is expected to be transported by private jet from Los Angeles to her hometown of Newark, N.J., for her funeral.
Services for the pop singer, who was found dead Saturday in the bathtub of her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, are tentatively scheduled for Friday at the Prudential Center in Newark, the New Jersey Star-Ledger reported.
A community leader with ties to Houston's family told the Star-Ledger of the plans, which her family has not yet disclosed. The source spoke to the paper on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak for the family.
An autopsy on Houston's body has been completed by the L.A. County Coroner's office but the cause of death has not been released pending toxicology reports.
The Prudential Center, a basketball and hockey arena in downtown Newark, seats more than 18,500 people.
Houston was born in Newark.
