Alain Salas, a teacher's aide at John C. Fremont Senior High School in the Florence neighborhood of South L.A., was taken into custody Monday by the FBI. He faces an additional charge of contact with a minor for the purpose of sexual contact. Prosecutors are seeking a $300,000 bail when he appears in a Compton courtroom for arraignment Wednesday. Sources said the alleged victim was a student at Fremont.

Salas coached girls' volleyball. Los Angeles Unified School District Supt. John Deasy early Tuesday morning confirmed the arrest of a school employee to broadcast reporters.

"We have well over 100,000 full-time and part-time employees," Deasy said "They drive buses, they prepare food, they teach, they lead. Some people will make bad choices, and when we know about that, we respond to it."

Two teachers have been arrested for alleged sex crimes involving children at nearby Miramonte Elementary School.
