Sword-wielding man fatally shot by deputy during narcotics search

Credit: Homicide ReportDeputies went to the home in the 4400 block of Spearman Avenue to serve a search warrant at 9:30 p.m. when the 68-year-old man suddenly exited a bedroom holding a four-foot sword, said Lt. Mary Leef of the sheriff's department.

The man, who was not identified, raised the sword at a deputy, who then fired multiple shots at the man. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital, Leef said.

Three other people in the home were detained without incident.

No information was available about the narcotics search.
